How to ring in 2011 Part 5 - Stop working and take a breather & find your long-lost artistic side

I didn't quit or get fired, my temp contract just came to an end. I didn't feel like extending it because I feel like...IDA's not what's right for me. I'd like to work somewhere more creative, somewhere younger, somewhere more fun.

Yeah good luck Audrey Chan.

For now I'm just bumming around at home looking for a new job. I've had more time to work on my art and I've been catching up on sleep. I also have been going out and doing my New Year shopping, though I have not bought nearly enough (I have been spending an unreasonable amount of money on comic books though).

I've been mostly very lazy and would love to muck around with some friends. But most of my friends are working at the time of day at which I'm usually bored.

Ah a nice glass of teh tarik with friends. What I miss a lot these days. They just don't make them the same here.

I did cook dinner one night. Mom's away to Florida on business and I figured this was the perfect chance for me to cook (she doesn't really like me near the kitchen stove). Ash loves pasta, we had leftover sauce so I thought what the heck, time to whip up the easiest plate of pasta ever. Bought some extra virgin olive oil, minced beef, carrots, canned button mushrooms and some white button mushrooms.

Stuff in pasta sauce:
  • Browned beef mince
  • Sliced brown button mushrooms (the typical canned kind)
  • Chopped carrots (pre-fried)
  • LOTS of basil

The white button mushrooms were used for baked mushrooms. I drizzled them with olive oil and basil and popped them into the oven at about 150 degrees for 15 minutes. They come out nice, fragrant and soft brown.

I'm going to cook again this weekend, probably will make chicken stew.

But mostly it's the art I'm really happy about. I haven't had the time or a long enough attention span to sit through and finish any artwork lately. And I'm glad that now I am finally working on a few things, with progress.

Here's one of my works-in-progress. I really have a good feeling about this one.

I'd better have my cereal brunch so I can head out to do some shopping later. Toodle-oo.
