I miss my music + Teaser trailer

I really regret not emptying my old PC of all my music before coming here. I regret not transferring my Sara Bareilles, my Silverchair, my Nightwish, my Beatles, my Augustana, my Jimmy Eat World and my Queen to my Mac.

I'm currently downloading music like crazy. I might give Kings of Leon a whirl, because their single Sex on Fire seems to be really popular in Australia (and so is LadyHawke's Delirium, might give her a spin as well). Bob bought their (Kings of Leon) album and said it was pretty good.

In other news, I have wrapped up my final assignment for the semester, and am officially free for winter hols!!! That is, until the 6th of July, is when our winter school classes are alleged to start. Geez I can't wait for spring. I don't have to wear socks and shoes and a jacket everywhere.

Gonna watch Transformers 2 tomorrow at Marion. This will be a first movie attempt at Marion. I hope they've got caramel popcorn (though I doubt it), I'm slightly fed up of going to the movies without snacks.

Whilst I am psyched for Transformers 2, I am anticipating the possibility of The Last Airbender's teaser trailer to appear (news is it's premiering with Transformers 2 in the States, and some parts of Canada).

If you remember many posts back, I wrote this angry post about the whitewashed Avatar movie cast. I said I had lost all hope. And they only made it much worse, when after I had written that post, they announced that not only Aang would be white, but most of the main cast would be. Zuko was gonna be played by Jesse fucking McCartney.

And apparently they got the idea that many of us diehard fans are pissed off about the casting, not just us Asians, but a lot of Caucasian fans as well. So they switched Jesse with Dev Patel, and most of the other characters are gonna be played by, if not Asian, Eurasian and Middle Eastern actors and actresses, and they don't look all that bad.

When the first pictures of movie!Aang (played by noah Ringer) were released, I thought he looked adorable, and he didn't really look that white.

Dev Patel as Zuko doesn't look too shabby either.

Okay, my excuse is, I'M TIRED OF BEING DISAPPOINTED BY NEWS AND ARGUMENTS ABOUT THE MAIN CAST BEING WHITE. Especially Katara and Sokka because they should be Inuit (Dev Patel would make a PERFECT Sokka, by the way, not Zuko, but *shrugs*). I'm just gonna settle for whatever it's gonna be like when it comes out.

I just watched the teaser on Youtube today. It looks shitloads epic. HEAPS GOOD. I take back what I said in my angry post about losing hope for this movie, my hope has been restored.

THOSE FIRE NATION BATTLESHIPS LOOK WICKED. And boy can Noah do some kungfu shit.

Now I'm just gonna pray every night that M. Night Shyamalan doesn't screw this up, like he did his previous movies. He did make some very good movies. I'll give him that.

If you're currently shaking your head and thinking, "She's such a geek, tsk tsk," let me tell you this. GEEKS ENJOY MOVIES TWICE AS MUCH AS YOU DO. Cos' we are trained to break down plots and examine weaknesses in storyline. We did not spend hours watching series and movies and playing video games to not know this shit!! D8 And most of all, we know the backgrounds of the characters and their true stories, so we get the best of both worlds! *points at you people who thought Jessica Simpson was the original Daisy Duke*

And some of us do have social lives just like all you other wankers out there okay? >8D

PHOTOSHOOT MUCH? D8

I finally found the perfect conditions to camwh--I mean, take quality photos in my room.

  • A gorillapod. (it's a tripod with very flexible adjustable legs)
  • Concealer to cover zits and pimples and shiny lip gloss.
  • Other makeup (have not experimented with this yet)
  • Blank white wall.
  • Sunlight.
  • NO FLASH.
  • A good enough camera (I don't use a fancy DSLR, just a regular IXUS)
  • Also some good inspiration. The inspiration for the top picture (or the whole photo-taking session) was Aqualung's Still Life album cover.
  • Nice clothes LOL.

Shut up. I don't camwhore often, stop poppin' my bubbles. And gosh I'm hungry.

2.30am, working on assignment, and Jay decides to be the bearer of good news.

RELIENT K CONCERT IN MELBOURNE SEPTEMBER 12th!

And if I'm not wrong, my family will be over then, and we're going to Melbourne anyway. ZOMFGWTF, I NEED TO EXTEND MY MELBOURNE STAY!

And something that's closer, in August, just when I was talking about Anberlin in my previous post, THEY'RE COMING TO S.A.! Again! And they're bringing along The Academy Is!!! D8

I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY! *dies*

Wanna hear some muuuuusiiiiic +The Phantom of the Opera + What we did to the game of Monopoly Part 2

Mood: Mellow
Listening to: Loin Du Froid De Décembre by Hélène Ségara

Embedding's disabled, but this is a pretty wicked video: Godspeed by Anberlin. It's starts of with a bang, contains lots of headbanging to accompany the heavy guitar and drum action. Plus, the dark setting and atmosphere is pretty subliminal. >8D

I haven't gotten into, and I mean really into, a good band in a long while. And after watching them (amongst 54 other wicked pretty awesome bands) at Soundwave Music Festival Adelaide 2009, and along with Bob's recommendation, I have now fallen in love with Anberlin's music. Alternative rock fans out there, please give them a shot, go listen to their Paperthin Hymn, and fall in love. And if I thought Secondhand Serenade's Your Call was the most corny, jiwang song in the world, Anberlin's versatility proved me wrong, with their song Inevitable.

That, and NONE of us here can afford tickets to AC/DC's concert here. Not that any of us could've scored tickets, they were sold out 40 minutes after the ticketing booth was open.

Also, explaining the title of my post, seeing Jack's Mannequin (ANDREW MCMAHON <3) at Soundwave Music Festival Adelaide 2009, drove me to the realization that I have been far behind in their music, because they were playing many songs I didn't recognize, most of them from their new album, The Glass Passenger. That prompted me to immediately download it. It's not as good as its predecessor Everything in Transit, but it does have some really good solid tracks that pretty much makes up for the tracks that are so-so.

Actually I wasn't the only one who didn't recognize their music, if you looked back on my Soundwave 2009 report, I posted up two videos I took of JM at Soundwave, one of La La Lie from the old album and one of Crashin' from the new album. Take a listen and compare the amount of people singing along. >8D I WAS NOT ALONE.

Also, The Phantom of the Opera, was awesome. It wasn't the original London cast but it was still awesome. *curses the fact that she was too young to see Sarah Brightman as Christine Daae and Michael Crawford as the Phantom when they were still performing*

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember I mentioned that the Malaysian students living on Lorne Avenue destroyed the game of Monopoly? Since we returned from Melbourne, we've been playing a lot of Texas Hold 'em Poker (no not the Facebook app, real Poker with real chips), competing against each other for the rare privilege of laundry money (the stupid machines only take 2 and 1 dollar coins). So we stopped playing Monopoly for a while.

That is, until Jay's birthday, for which he received from his friends a deck of MONOPOLY DEAL cards as a present.

This game is like UNO on steroids.

It was pretty fun, until couple of nights ago, where the game seemed to go on FOREVER. And I mean FOREVER. Yuen always plays a playlist of songs when we play Poker, and we usually would end our Poker game before or by the time Kris Dayanti's Menghitung Hari would play. When we played Monopoly Deal, it went WAAAAAY beyond Menghitung Hari, and it got to the point where it was so painful to continue, we let Rachel win JUST SO we could end the game.

The main objective is to get three full sets of property and you win the game. The problem was, whenever someone was close to getting a full three sets, someone would steal or swap property with them using their power cards. This wasn't the main problem as that's the whole point of the game (to prevent others from winning duh). The main problem was even if you had planned an end-game, it wouldn't come true by the time it got to your turn. And we realized it halfway through the game when Jay read the manual that the game was for 2 to a maximum of 5 people, and we were playing with 6. NO WONDER IT WOULDN'T END. There weren't enough cards to go around, and there were too many players, and too little turns per person.

Most agonizing card game I've ever played.

Anyways I bought a bag of marshmallows and colorful liquorice candy which I plan on finishing over the course of two weeks but failing horribly at it, and am watching Good News Week, and am getting extremely annoyed at the guy who plays annoying background music on the keyboard while the host and guests are off being funny.

*spazzes and melts into a puddle of ecstatic goo*

WHO'S EXCITED?! *raises hand up*

FOR THE FIRST EVER ANIME IN THE HISTORY OF ANIME, TO BE ADAPTED INTO A CGI FILM?!

I'm don't care what haters say about Hollywood turning everything to crap, I'M SO WATCHING THIS SHIT. I'm sorry, I just went for Night At The Museum (I had a -____- face throughout the whole movie) and the last trailer they played before the movie started was this!!!

COMPLETE WITH EPIC TRAILER BATTLE MUSIC!!!

No seriously, I was giggling and squealing in fangirl delight in the theater when the trailer came on, ask Yuen or Jay.

And Dr. Tenma actually looks like Nicholas Cage lol. And I didn't even bother to state the name of the movie, BECAUSE IT NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION! D8

OKAY I'M DONE. WILL POST SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT IN FUTURE.
