Listening to: Loin Du Froid De Décembre by Hélène Ségara
Embedding's disabled, but this is a pretty wicked video: Godspeed by Anberlin. It's starts of with a bang, contains lots of headbanging to accompany the heavy guitar and drum action. Plus, the dark setting and atmosphere is pretty subliminal. >8D
I haven't gotten into, and I mean really into, a good band in a long while. And after watching them (amongst 54 other wicked pretty awesome bands) at Soundwave Music Festival Adelaide 2009, and along with Bob's recommendation, I have now fallen in love with Anberlin's music. Alternative rock fans out there, please give them a shot, go listen to their Paperthin Hymn, and fall in love. And if I thought Secondhand Serenade's Your Call was the most corny, jiwang song in the world, Anberlin's versatility proved me wrong, with their song Inevitable.
That, and NONE of us here can afford tickets to AC/DC's concert here. Not that any of us could've scored tickets, they were sold out 40 minutes after the ticketing booth was open.
Also, explaining the title of my post, seeing Jack's Mannequin (ANDREW MCMAHON <3) at Soundwave Music Festival Adelaide 2009, drove me to the realization that I have been far behind in their music, because they were playing many songs I didn't recognize, most of them from their new album, The Glass Passenger. That prompted me to immediately download it. It's not as good as its predecessor Everything in Transit, but it does have some really good solid tracks that pretty much makes up for the tracks that are so-so.
Actually I wasn't the only one who didn't recognize their music, if you looked back on my Soundwave 2009 report, I posted up two videos I took of JM at Soundwave, one of La La Lie from the old album and one of Crashin' from the new album. Take a listen and compare the amount of people singing along. >8D I WAS NOT ALONE.
Also, The Phantom of the Opera, was awesome. It wasn't the original London cast but it was still awesome. *curses the fact that she was too young to see Sarah Brightman as Christine Daae and Michael Crawford as the Phantom when they were still performing*

Remember I mentioned that the Malaysian students living on Lorne Avenue destroyed the game of Monopoly? Since we returned from Melbourne, we've been playing a lot of Texas Hold 'em Poker (no not the Facebook app, real Poker with real chips), competing against each other for the rare privilege of laundry money (the stupid machines only take 2 and 1 dollar coins). So we stopped playing Monopoly for a while.
That is, until Jay's birthday, for which he received from his friends a deck of MONOPOLY DEAL cards as a present.
This game is like UNO on steroids.
It was pretty fun, until couple of nights ago, where the game seemed to go on FOREVER. And I mean FOREVER. Yuen always plays a playlist of songs when we play Poker, and we usually would end our Poker game before or by the time Kris Dayanti's Menghitung Hari would play. When we played Monopoly Deal, it went WAAAAAY beyond Menghitung Hari, and it got to the point where it was so painful to continue, we let Rachel win JUST SO we could end the game.
The main objective is to get three full sets of property and you win the game. The problem was, whenever someone was close to getting a full three sets, someone would steal or swap property with them using their power cards. This wasn't the main problem as that's the whole point of the game (to prevent others from winning duh). The main problem was even if you had planned an end-game, it wouldn't come true by the time it got to your turn. And we realized it halfway through the game when Jay read the manual that the game was for 2 to a maximum of 5 people, and we were playing with 6. NO WONDER IT WOULDN'T END. There weren't enough cards to go around, and there were too many players, and too little turns per person.
Most agonizing card game I've ever played.
Anyways I bought a bag of marshmallows and colorful liquorice candy which I plan on finishing over the course of two weeks but failing horribly at it, and am watching Good News Week, and am getting extremely annoyed at the guy who plays annoying background music on the keyboard while the host and guests are off being funny.
